Avocado Caprese Salad Supreme

Give the classic Caprese salad a creamy twist by adding slices of ripe avocado. Alternate layers of tomato, fresh mozzarella, and avocado, then sprinkle with basil leaves. A drizzle of extra virgin olive oil and a pinch of sea salt. This will elevate this salad to a Avocado Caprese Supreme.

What is Caprese Salad or what does Caprese mean:

Avocado Caprese Salad

“Insalata Caprese” literally means “the salad of Capri” which is an Italian island. Caprese salad is typically made by layering slices of fresh mozzarella cheese, tomatoes, and basil. Then seasoned to perfection, drizzled with extra virgin olive oil and sometimes a balsamic glaze.

My Italian background exposed me to the pleasure of Fresh Tomato and Mozzarella cheese long ago. Yes a long time ago and it is still a Flavorful treat today. I would enjoy the tomato & cheese combo by iteself. But we also enjoyed with a little olive oil and grated parmesan cheese. Poured on a plate to dip some fresh bread into was a blessing. Today I try to stay away from the bread. Key word TRY. So lets enjoy a salad with these delicious 2 and add in one more. Avacodo slices. Avacado is another flavorful and great tasting fruit. I love Guacamole on my chips or toast. Therefore, I thought the 3 together would be a Busrt of taste and freshness. I was right.

You can lay these out for the perfect presentation on a platter or stick them on a skewer for the fresh kabob addition. However you slice it up, this to me is a combo of heavenly freshness on the palate. Remember, color is good for you. This is actually a great PH balancing dish, as well as a tasty treat. Now let’s just pair it with a delicious adult beverage to make it even better. Yes a great glass of fine wine makes everything better. Wine is also a super food that helps digestion as well as have a nice relaxing time while you share your dishes.

WHAT WINE SHOULD WE PAIR THIS WITH

Sauvignon Blanc is a popular white wine choice when it comes to pairing with Caprese salad. This crisp and refreshing wine offers a perfect balance to the flavors of the salad. Sauvignon Blanc is known for its vibrant acidity, which complements the acidity of the tomatoes and balsamic vinegar in the salad. Pinot Noir’s red fruit flavors, such as cherry and raspberry, complement the sweetness of the tomatoes in the Caprese salad.

As for the Avocado extra in my Caprese Salad, it is wise to Stick to refreshing whites with an acidic bite, but plenty of herbaceous flavours such as Sauvignon Blanc. Red wines are going to be trickier as tannins can react badly with the avocado. So if you do brave it, stick to the lighter reds such as Pinot Noir

I only drink Fine Wines from a club that ships to me every month out of California as you all know. Some of the best wines in the world are from that region. Also, and I only drink a Fine Wine made the old natural way. I will not put mass produced wines in my body. Always more than one way to prepare or present the same foods

Get a nice serving tray and lay all 3 slices together. 3 after 3 after 3, until your tray is full, drizzle the entire tray with some extra virgin olive oil. Now add a pinch of sea salt and you will be serving a very tasty fresh summertime delight. Try either the white or red pairing I mentioned above.

You can also spear these onto a skewer as I said, but instead of slices, use cherry or plum tomoatoes. Add Mozzarella balls, a little olive oil and/or balsalmic glaze and you get the same heavenly taste in your mouth.

I choose to try both the Sauvignon Blanc and the Pinot Noir. You should always experiment as well. Everyones taste buds are slightly different. You might like both, you may lean one way, you might want to try something entirely different.
